For my project I felt that the things that went well included the filming of the real-time as well as the editing. The editing was easy because the clips were already in order. The footage was clear and understandable. I thought that my stop-frame animation could have been better managed as well as leaving more time to edit or plan for accidents with the camera or other equipment. Whilst taking the pictures I found it slightly difficult to remain with the same frames over and over again even though I was using a tripod. I feel that it was due to the angle of the plate and the weight of the camera/lens as well as the angle I was at whilst adding the requirements on the page.
The planning of the time was the easiest thing to plan for however it didn’t always happen at the correct time. This is apparent in the production diary in point 12. Due to the main actor being ill, I was unable to film the real time footage and complete it, instead I replaced this with the beginning shots of the stop frame animation including set layouts and test shots. The set layouts where in case I needed to change move the objects out of somebody else’s way, I would then be able to put things back in the same space without a noticeable change in the pictures. The test shots were to help me make any necessary changes to make the pictures or sound clearer.
The planning for people involved in the project, I feel was not organised to a high enough standard to avoid the problems I encountered during 2 or 3 weeks worth of filming. I feel that if I had given some stricter instructions to the actors involved which would have meant that the problems I encountered in regards to time and who was being filmed I feel that all of them could have been avoided successfully.
I was lucky enough to not come across any problems or difficulties with my location. I was given permission to film there instantly and I was able to not have any extras in the backgrounds or ruining any shots. I feel I chose it well in regards to the spaces available and the look I was trying to put across. I feel the camera coped well with the amount of light that was available and the sound quality was good. As far as my equipment was concerned I had no problems with anything from over exposure or over saturation.
In general my editing time was lengthened due to another class member being on the computer that my footage was on. This was only effecting uploading my stop-frame animation to my real-time footage.
I asked a member of my target audience to see what they thought of my video. Initially, they were confused about the concept of the video as there was no clear story or narrative, however, after seeing the animation for the second time the concept was slightly clearer. I understand where my target audience member would be coming from but during production I decided to leave a lot for the audience to decide, for example, who wrote the letter and what happened to the particular character.
